MOJITO

Discover it!. It might have got its name from the Cuban habit of spicing up the meat with Creole mojo,-a lemon and mint dressing-- but the fact is that this cocktail with a bit of mojo, known worldwide as mojito, is refreshing, revitalizing and perfect to start or top up any soirée.

Recipe: The genuine recipe prepared by the canteen masters in a tall glass is:

  • 5cl of Havana Club 3 years
  • 2 cl. lemon juice
  • A spoonful of sugar
  • 6 cl. sparkling water
  • 8 leaves of fresh mint leaves
  • Crushed ice

DAIQUIRI

Discover it: Feel like a Hollywood 50’s star and treat yourself to a daiquiri, the cocktail that celebrities like Gary Cooper, Ava Gardner or Spencer Tracy used to drink at the Floridita bar in Havana in their glamorous soirées. It is said that Ernest Hemingway used to drink half a dozen of them a day.

Recipe: The classic daiquiri is prepared by mixing up the following ingredients in an American blender:

  • 5 cl. of Havana Club 3 years or Especial 5
  • 0,5 cl. of Triple liqueur
  • 2 cl. of lemon
  • A spoonful of sugar
  • Crushed ice.

MAI TAI

Discover it! Maitai means in Tahiti “very good”, which is what some Polinesian friends of Victor Bergeron’s cried out when they tried this cocktail. Tropical cocktails found their way in the cocktail competition along with the Caribbean ones. In the 50's they also conquered Hollywood with films like Blue Hawaii, with the legendary Elvis Presley.

Recipe. The closest to the original one is mixed up in a shaker, served in a glass and garnished with mint leaves or fruit rind:

  • 2 parts of Havana Club rum 3 years
  • 1 ounce of Triple liqueur
  • ½ ounce lime juice
  • ½ ounce grenadine
  • ½ ounce of almond milk (sirop of Orgeat)
  • 2 or 3 drops Angostura
  • Crushed ice
